A soil-test number
is method-specific evidence.

USDA ARS reports that soil-health laboratory methods can vary and may produce results that are not directly comparable. University Extension explains that reporting units, procedures and interpretation ranges can differ among soil-testing laboratories.

The goal is not to force every method into one number. It is to preserve enough context to compare like with like, identify justified transformations and stop unsupported trend or recommendation claims.
